Spirituality

A part of what we do is to connect people with opportunities to explore spirituality.  Universities, as places of enrichment and learning, are ideal spaces for people to engage with spiritual exploration.  As a chaplaincy service we are invested in fostering safe spaces for exploration and we are clear that we do not run programmes or activities which seek to convert people from one faith (or no faith) to another.   We seek to celebrate the stories of people of faith, highlight key festivals & observances of faith communities, and accompany people of faith in ways which enable their spiritual growth.  The main ways we do this are through;

  • Chaplain/faith advisor accompaniment (you can contact one of our faith advisors / chaplains to talk about being supported on your own spiritual journey.  Team contact details are here.)

  • Signposting people to local places of worship (you can find info about local places of worship here.)

  • Supporting the work of the student led faith societies (All AUB and BU faith societies are joint societies open to students of both universities.  You can find out more information about existing faith societies here.)

  • Offering opportunities for staff and students to reflect on spirituality through accessible and inclusive programmed activities including engaging in and promoting interfaith dialogue and encounter. (You can find out more about our current programme here.)
